~Ard Crags~
A featured fell is my way of studying each fell in turn and recording thoughts and observations.
Ard Crags is centrally situated bewtween Derwentwater and Crummock Water and is part of a ridge also containing Knott Rigg.

The above view shows Sail, Eel Crag, Wandope and Whiteless Pike, but can you see a little bit of something else?*
AW: "In fell-climbing (as in other pursuits) there is a difference between achievement and satisfaction. One's sense of achievement is roughly in proportion to altitude gained by effort, but one's sense of satisfaction is not necessarily governed by the same rule. Lonely Ard Crags offers, especially in August, a climb to a personal heaven of one's very own - at only 1800 feet."

This photo is taken from neighbouring Knott Rigg. Causey Pike summit can be seen just behind Ard Crags top.
Ard Crags from Wandope
If you refer back to the top photo, you will see that these views are opposite and complimentary, if you know what I mean.
Ard Crags and Knott Rigg are inextricably linked, in a different part of the world, they might be considered as one. *The bit of something else in the top photo, is a bit of Grasmoor.
Where: North-Western Fells. From the Newlands Valley, take the road to Keskadale Beck and the fell is up there on the right, assuming you are looking up the valley.
Height: 1860ft
Suggested Route: The Ascent from Rigg Beck as per AW AC3. In AW's day, the Purple House would have been at the start of this walk, it's not there now.
My Frequency: Twice, once on a walk with David Hall.
Whilst You're There: You must also visit Knott Rigg, it'll not wear you out.
